Well we can tried to remove the jewellery from the piercing while it was dry and tore the new tissue right out of the piercing. 6 weeks is nothing in the healing process, we don't consider a piercing healed until it's a year old, that's when it's tough enough to handle jewellery changes and a little rough handling like changing the jewellery when the piercing is dry etc. So start from square one. I would suggest getting some captive bead rings in the piercings and go that way for a while, it will allow you to rinse the piercings in the shower and allow them to heal up faster.
